Fearful that the incoming Trump administration might try to do away with legal abortion, some leftist women are having their tubes tied in what the media is describing as a nationwide post-election pregnancy strike.
Newsweek dropped the bomb this week that growing female anxiety over the future of women’s “reproductive rights” in America is prompting some women to sterilize themselves on purpose to avoid ever being able to have children – and to stick it to Trump.
“If I am to be denied any rights in the next four (or more) years, I will not give them up without a fight,” said 28-year-old Lydia Echols of Texas to the media outlet.
“I am not happy that I felt forced into a surgery I did not want to alter my body,” another, aged 39 and from Washington state, reportedly said as well. “I feel like the election tied my hands and forced me to be sterilized – that is horrible.”

It is not just women who are protesting Trump’s reelection by making themselves infertile. Some men, we are told, have taken similar steps to get a vasectomy to avoid the possibility that they might reproduce under Trump.
One woman interviewed by Newsweek told the paper that her husband recently got “the snip” as a precautionary measure.
The reason why these people are freaking out is because Trump continues to brag that he is responsible for overturning Roe v. Wade in 2022, sending the matter of abortion to individual states to decide.
Leftists who are used to aborting their unborn children on demand fear that with Trump in office, it could become more difficult to terminate pregnancies.
“I would not support a federal abortion ban, under any circumstances, and would, in fact, veto it, because it is up to the states to decide based on the will of their voters (the will of the people!),” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform back in October.
Another worry among some is that their own lives were too traumatic for them to ever imagine bringing children into the world, especially with Trump in office. The 39-year-old woman from Washington said her persistent health problems, which include polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), are another factor to consider.
“Neither of us wanted to subject me to an unnecessary surgery or jeopardize my health,” she explained about her decision.
“I paid way too much attention to the vitriol Trump repeatedly spit during his previous term and am keenly aware of the people he keeps around him, and in his ear, who all seem to see women as incubators and possessions to subjugate.”
Had Kamala Harris won the election instead of Trump, the woman, who chose to remain anonymous for privacy reasons, was “fully planning to cancel the surgery the day after the election, assuming Kamala won.”
Alas, Kamala lost so the surgery was had. Both the woman and her husband decided it is best not to reproduce moving forward.
“With Trump’s victory, we quickly learned that my choice to cancel the surgery had been taken from me,” she said.
“We both believed that I had no choice but to proceed to ensure that I can protect my health should I be assaulted during a Trump presidency, should my husband’s vasectomy fail and / or should my hormonal birth control become inaccessible.”
